Hiking Lantau Peak was initially planned as a back to back with our Sunset Peak hike without us knowing the difficulty of the trails. We underestimated Sunset Peak and we thought it was easy peasy but it turned out to be a very challenging one. Lantau Peak is the second highest peak in Hong Kong and is one of the most popular hikes. It is famous for its impressive vistas and incredible sunrise or sunset view. The hike is the Section 3 of Lantau Trail traversing Pak Kung Au to Ngong Ping.
After we’ve completed and conquered the Dragon’s Back mountain hike, our first ever Hong Kong hike, we felt the urge of doing more challenging hikes. The feeling was incredible especially upon reaching the top. It was physically exhausting but it was definitely rewarding. Finishing the Dragon’s Back hike was like a warm up for more strenuous hikes and has prepared us for our next adventure. After that, we knew that we were ready for our next hiking destination, the Sunset Peak Hike.
We wanted our first visit to a US National Park to be amazing and memorable, that’s why, we totally prepared for it. Yosemite National Park has been for a long time a dream place to visit. With all its wonderful waterfalls, green meadows, gigantic granite mountains, and wildlife, it is surely on everyone’s bucket list. You shouldn’t be faulted if you think that hiking and Hong Kong are never to be associated together. After all, Hong Kong is one of the most modern and urbanized cities not only in Asia, but, in the world. High rise buildings and impressive skyscrapers are what Hong Kong is to the rest of the world, but, truth be told, almost two thirds of its geographical area is far from modernity.
