How to Spend One Day in Abu Dhabi

People go to United Arab Emirates primarily because of Dubai.  Dubai is the most famous Emirate, but there is another Emirate, albeit less popular, that is worthy of a visit.  That is Abu Dhabi.  Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE and is the residence of the highest ranking official of the country.  The city is also the largest of UAE’s seven emirates and a picture of an urbanised and advanced cultural centre.  A visit in Abu Dhabi should be on everybody’s Dubai itinerary. We left Dubai and its brown environment after lunch and headed for a two-hour road trip to UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi.  The road to Abu Dhabi was all paved and the desert was endless.  Upon entering Abu Dhabi we were impressed by how different it was from our first impression of Dubai.  If what welcomed us in Dubai was desert and plains, Abu Dhabi has welcomed us with trees, impressive villas, and not dizzying buildings.  We loved it from the very first sight.

Abu Dhabi has lots of tourist attractions to attract visitors and make our time worthwhile.  From impressive skyscrapers to magnificent mosques to white sand beach to entertaining leisure park, the experience is endless.  A good three days in the city is perfect to truly appreciate Abu Dhabi in all its beauty.  But, what if you do not have enough time?  What would you do if you only have a day to explore Abu Dhabi?  Make the most out of it.

What To Do If You Only Have One Day in Abu Dhabi

There are many things to do and see in Abu Dhabi that exploring it in one day seems not truly enough.  That may be the case, but some of us do not have enough vacation to fulfil that, so we have to make sure we get to see and experience what Abu Dhabi has to offer.

Ferrari World

Straight from Dubai, start the day by visiting the famous Ferrari World.  Ferrari world is a leisure and entertainment park catering for the whole family.  If you love cars, with family, and adventure-seeker, then this is no brainer.  A trip to Ferrari World is a must.

Rides are aplenty and designed for people of different age.  Be amazed by how spectacular the park is and professed your love to the most popular car brand there is.  The park is open from 11am to 8pm and three to four hours of stay can satisfy everybody’s young hearts.  The entrance fee is from AED295 for 1 Day Park Pass.

Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque

Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque is one fine piece of architecture.  It is one of the largest mosques in the world and probably the most beautiful.  We were impressed by how detailed the mosque is and how magnificent it looks.  It possesses a fragile beauty and a mysterious aura that even non-worshippers feel peaceful and serene.

The main hall is enormous and the chandeliers hanging were made of gold and said to be very expensive.  It has pools at its side that add mystic to its presence.  The mosque is best viewed before the sunset when all the colours are its most striking.

Be respectful and leave shoes outside and observe silence.  This is a house of worship that is open for the public to marvel at.

Emirates Palace and the Etihad Towers

Since we only have a day to explore Abu Dhabi, this is the last on the list before the return to Dubai.  What better way to end the tour than going to Emirates Palace and enjoy the view of the Etihad Towers where the Fast and the Furious movie was famously shot.

Emirates Palace is a luxury hotel and situated in front of the official government residences.  Coming from Macau with all its impressive and enormous hotels, we shouldn’t be impressed by this, but we were.  The design of the hotel is a quintessential Arabian design with intricate details.  The facade of the building exudes elegance and at the same time a traditional aura.

Etihad Towers are group of modern buildings that are good to look at from the palace while sitting on a grass and watching the sun set.

How to Get to Abu Dhabi from Dubai?

There are many ways to go to Abu Dhabi from Dubai and the cheapest is by taking the public bus.

a.) Take public bus number E100 from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station in Bur Dubai and it will go straight to Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station.

b.) Taxi is another option but an expensive one and the last option if you run out of one.

c.) Renting a car is the most convenient way and you can go to some other places other than those mentioned here because you have the monopoly of time.  You also do not have to worry about getting around Abu Dhabi if you are driving your own.

d.) Another option to get to Abu Dhabi is by joining a day tour.  There are lots of day tour available on the internet or through local agencies that include the three places mentioned here.  Also, you may check on Klook for the best available option and the cheapest price.

The time may not be enough to fully appreciate Abu Dhabi, but if that’s the only time we have, better make sure to make the most of it.  If I’m going to be totally honest, the ambiance of Abu Dhabi is better than Dubai’s.  It is larger than Dubai but the environment is not overpowering.  There is something about it that seems to be on my speed.  Would love to be back, certainly.
